The importance of cultural heritage is raised in order to overcome hardships, such as bullying and racism. This capsule reminds us that people are not alone and highlights the people who can support us during difficult times.

Adults are role models for children. It is by showing kindness and compassion that they learn to show it too. This capsule encourages the creation of safe, inclusive and welcoming school environments.

It's not always easy to learn that a student is bullying others. In the school environment, the adult can act as a model for the students. By allowing students to reflect and make better choices, we show them that we believe in their ability to change.

Students who disclose that they are being bullied show great courage. They need tenderness, understanding and the reassurance of knowing that what is happening to them is not their fault.

In our Indigenous communities, people of all ages come together to talk, discuss, tell stories and listen. Listening is very important in our cultures.

It is important that our students feel welcome and safe in our schools. When students realize that their culture and traditions are taken into account in the curriculum and in school life, they develop a sense of belonging.

The teachings and traditions of Indigenous communities as well as COPA National's approach to bullying prevention promote the establishment of family and community environments where safety, strength and freedom prevail.
