Marco, an Innu from Mashteuiash, wonders why the Huron-Wendat people all speak French. Seeing his own Innu language is declining, he goes to the ancestral places of Huronia in Ontario, where the Wendat people lived during their encounter with Champlain in 1615. No Wendat live there anymore. After the famous Iroquois massacre of 1649, what really happened? His investigation will reveal that, long before the city of Quebec or Montreal, on the shores of the Great Lakes, lived the hope of the Francophonie in the New World.
