“The Terrible Child” has lost none of its enthusiasm, 30 years after its first parade. A funny man, he also knows how to be serious when he evokes his companion, Francis Menuge, who died of AIDS in the 80s. An only child, he was raised in Arcueil by his grandmother who was a nurse. She was often whimsical: “Sometimes she forgot to put on her skirt, and left to visit her patients in simple petticoats”, remembers Jean-Paul Gaultier, tenderly. “I was careful not to tell her!”.
