The Rebellion of the Patriots is the culmination of a political conflict that existed since the early nineteenth century between the civil francophone population and the British military occupant. Simultaneously with the Rebellion of Upper Canada, in the colony of Upper Canada, the two constituted the Rebellions of 1837-38.
