Nos histoires, notre histoire - Lemieux: Le village disparu

On June 20, 1993, two years after the demolition of the last building in the village of Lemieux, a huge mud pit carried a driver and his vehicle, while swallowing a large portion of land. This is the reason why residents of the Francophone village of Lemieux in Eastern Ontario suddenly had to leave their hamlet. At any moment, its clayey, unstable soil was in danger of collapsing and taking everything away. Our team revisits the history of this Franco-Ontarian village, which has now completely disappeared, which was founded in 1850 and yet knew a very intense social life.
