A tale from the Grimm brothers told in France by Martine Tollet: “Mamé Suzanne, the old cook who keeps house with Linette’s father, makes the little girl promise to keep a secret: the next morning, after the father leaves for the forest, she will come and take Volé-Trouvé, the adopted child, and put him in the cauldron’s boiling water. Linette invents tricks to escape the old woman.”
