Literary sketch: Patrice Desbiens' The Invisible Man

This literary sketch by writer Patrice Desbiens, published in 1981, presents the double face of the bilingual Franco-Ontarian character-narrator who feels trapped between his two languages and two cultures. L'homme invisible, francophone, and the invisible man, anglophone, are the two alter egos who lead parallel lives in Quebec City and are presented in this sketch. Like a periscope that goes up and down, the character-narrator tries to discover his cultural identity, to understand the world through words and poetry. Come discover these mastered languages, sensitive, brilliant, sometimes pessimistic, but always surprising with their striking images.
