Documentary by Léa Pool highlighting the life and work of internationally renowned author Gabrielle Roy. Born in Manitoba to a modest French-Canadian family, nothing seems to predict that Gabrielle Roy would become a writer. An independent woman in a time when things were not well received, Gabrielle gave up her teaching career to study theatre in Europe for two years. In 1945, her first novel, “Bonheur d’occasion”, had the effect of a bomb. This woman inspires many with her strength of character, determination and creativity: an incomparable role model for young people in search of identity.
