Visions amérindiennes : l'art de Paul Kane
A blend of art, history and exploration, this documentary examines conflicting opinions about the artistic and historical value of Paul Kane’s work. Indeed, Paul Kane travelled across the North American continent in the mid-19th century to write about a changing world. However, when he returned to Toronto, he succumbed to the tastes of his audience by presenting an embellished work in a romantic style. Students will discover an often neglected past, that of the First Nations, through the eyes of an artist, and will be led to reflect on the imprint left by this population on our way of life.
