Savais-tu que... Ottawa, nom autochtone

Did you know that... The name Ottawa is derived from the Anishinaabemowin word adawe, which means “to trade”? The region had long been an important trading hub for Indigenous peoples, thanks to the convergence of rivers. At the start of colonization, the city was named Bytown, in honor of engineer John By. In 1855, it was renamed Ottawa.
