Doris Ng Ingham, 24, travels to China for the first time to pay tribute to 'the house of her ancestors'. She seeks to find a balance between traditional Chinese values and Western values in a rapidly changing China. This incursion into the social and intimate life of Doris’ family reveals the less official side of China, the people, values, traditions and customs of Doris’ region of origin. This documentary allows students to open up to the world around them from near or far, to establish links between different cultures and to reflect on their cultural identity.
