At Dame Viviane's request, Frère Éloi forces Alix to undergo a cure in order to become more empathetic. Alix agrees, mistakenly believing that by accepting, he will recover the lord's precious decree ring, which he has lost. For his part, Tristan takes up the challenge of a mysterious jewel thief to perform a chivalrous deed.
