Pablo and his mom are getting ready to go to a wedding, but when Pablo discovers a large purple creature with feathers on its head, he wonders where his mom has gone.

Nervous about a noisy birthday party, Pablo runs back to the car. In the World of Art, his friends join him and help him understand that a party is simply a time for friends to get together.

It's bedtime, but Pablo keeps turning the lights back on. Wren fears that when we fall asleep, we disappear. Mouse doesn't think it's true, but Pablo agrees with Wren.

Pablo is fascinated by the boy in the mirror. He draws his new friend and introduces him to the World of Art, but being friends with a reflection has its own limits.

When Pablo meets his mom's friend Fiona, all he notices about her is a bright, shiny button. He tells the Book Animals that it's a Fiona, but each of them has seen something different.

Pablo doesn't want to talk, but Draff finds it difficult. Little by little, Pablo and his friends find ways to play without words, through movement and meaning.

Pablo splashes in a puddle, making little points of light dance on the surface. Everyone loves the Sparks, and it quickly becomes a game of catching them.

There's an unusual smell in the house that Pablo finds very distracting. In the World of Art, the Aroma becomes a swirling character that makes it difficult to think or speak.

One day, Pablo hears a strange noise and discovers that his mother has new squeaky shoes. He wants to know what they're trying to say. Are the shoes crying or laughing?

When Pablo's mother tells him that his coat is getting too small, Pablo is horrified. He draws himself smaller so that his old coat will still fit, but what he really needs is a new coat.
