Melle Potin, the journalist, wants to do an article on Julia, a newcomer in the residence. To do this, she needs information about her native island and information contained in a book belonging to Julia's mother.

Julia and Sam have to look after Ben, Sam's little brother. A game of hide-and-seek is launched in the residence.

Sam agrees to water Mr. Ronchon's flowers. Entering Mr. Ronchon's empty apartment, he and Julia discover that Mr. Ronchon had hidden reasons for being so withdrawn.
