BANA KONESANS, which means “children of knowledge” in Haitian Creole, is a series rooted in Ontario's Francophone community that explores African heritage.

In the mysterious basement of their grandmother Yolanda's house lie dozens of African artifacts that belonged to their late grandfather. The objects in Grandmother Yolanda's basement reveal fragments of Black history: the meaning of West African masks, the origin of African musical instruments, oral tradition, the fight against racism and Black resistance and liberation movements, the deportation of enslaved peoples, and notable African-Canadian figures such as Viola Desmond.

This series celebrates African culture in all its diversity and offers young viewers the opportunity to better understand their own roots, or those of their classmates.
