Tim Doucette, from Quidan, Nova Scotia, has been blind since birth. His eyesight is only 10%. From the age of 5, despite his poor eyesight, he enjoyed looking at the moon, and at 12 his parents bought him a telescope. It was then that Tim Doucette's passion for astronomy began. As an adult, he discovered that his vision in the dark was better than normal, as his pupils were permanently dilated. Last year, Tim Doucette and his wife decided to build an astronomical observatory near their home, in order to share Tim's passion with tourists who came to the area to observe the sky. In 2014, the region where they live was certified by UNESCO as the first Starlight tourist destination in North America, for low light pollution.
