In Japan, the French language has become a marketing tool. It is used in all sorts of ways, and this can lead to some rather strange results. Storefronts, food products, and clothing brands feature French-sounding names—often absurd ones. This phenomenon is known as “Franponais.” Is this the result of poor translations?
