There are eleven official languages in the Northwest Territories: French, English and nine Indigenous languages. In fact, it's the only Canadian jurisdiction to have so many. In this feature, we bring you three different perspectives on the subject of Official Languages in the NWT: Maxence Jaillet, a proud representative of the NWT Francophonie; Garth Wallbridge, an English-speaking lawyer; and Madelaine Pasquayak, an Indigenous teacher who strives to speak Tlicho with the youth of her community.
