Conventional agriculture is Prince Edward Island's primary industry. Because of its isolation and small size, the island cannot compete with other provinces in terms of volume and price. But in recent years, a group of farmers and entrepreneurs - and even Buddhist monks - believe that this Maritime province has the potential to differentiate itself by capitalizing on a growing market: organic farming.
