Mélissa Ouimet - Sans tomber

To celebrate Franco-Ontarian Day, singer-songwriter Mélissa Ouimet offers a new version of her short film Sans tomber. Protecting language and culture is a richness for her. She talks about her experience in complete confidence and presents the songs from her album one by one. She offers advice to young people who would like to pursue a career in music. In addition to the original musical portion, she invites us behind the scenes of the creation and introduces us to inspiring people who have marked her artistic journey.

In addition to the study of music, dance and theater, this documentary is an excellent resource for teaching social studies, as it allows us to be in touch with the reality of Francophone artists in a minority context. How can we make a career in French music when we are surrounded by a majority of Anglophones? Canada's Francophones have a heritage to share and this cultural richness is present in Mélissa Ouimet's lyrics. She takes a unique look at the defense of culture and language.
Students will discover the new wave in Franco-Ontarian music and work on their identity construction. In addition, collective consciousness, Francophone minorities, the transmission of Francophone identity and pride are at the heart of this documentary.
