On démystifie le français... d'une russophone
We all speak French differently, and that's just as well! On démystifie le français kicks off its second season with a very topical profile: a Ukrainian whose first language is Russian. Phonologist Marie-Hélène Côté, professor at the University of Lausanne, is back to explain what characterizes the accent of a Russian speaker who speaks French. For example, certain consonants at the end of a word are not pronounced with the vibration of the vocal cords, and become, as it were, mute. Fascinating!
