Mitchell Akerman is Métis, yet he didn't grow up speaking the language of his people: Ojibwe.
Born in Midland on the shores of Georgian Bay, Mitchell lived through a time when Indigenous identity carried a stigma, as the language was rarely passed on to younger generations. Now, as an adult, he is rediscovering this fundamental part of his heritage and helping to pass it on to others.
