The North Atlantic right whale is one of the rarest whales in the world and an endangered species. Its population is estimated at 336 individuals. Geneviève Peck is a master's student at Memorial University of Newfoundland. Her research project is to test a piece of equipment that would prevent North Atlantic right whales from dying entangled in nets, and enable viable commercial harvesting of snow crab.
