Les baleines noires du Saint-Laurent

The white-tailed deer in Longueuil's Parc Michel-Chartrand are so numerous that they are having a very negative impact on the park's ecosystem. The decision to cull half the herd caused quite an outcry, to the point of causing its cancellation.

These two species living in southern Quebec, a small frog and a fish, are extremely vulnerable. Their habitat is under enormous pressure, not least from urban sprawl.

Insects are a crucial link in biodiversity. Yet, on a global scale, many insect populations have been declining for several years now. It has to be said that insects are often unloved.

The UN recently pointed out that humanity has lost 75% of the world's cultivated plants. To this sad fact we must add the accelerated destruction of tropical forests, which constitute ecosystems with the greatest plant diversity.
