L'école primaire
This second episode focuses on elementary school children. This is a crucial learning period, when children become familiar with reading, writing and mathematics. It's also a time for learning to socialize, function in groups and forge friendships. At this age, children with disabilities have already gone through a period of adjusting to their differences, and have made the transition from daycare to kindergarten. Classroom life and belonging to a group become increasingly important. School becomes both an important place of learning and socialization.
In this episode, Sophie visits schools that create environments adapted to the needs of young people in unusual situations. She is particularly interested in inclusion strategies for students with physical or neurocognitive disabilities.
