Le post-secondaire
The leap to university education is a stimulating step that inspires enthusiasm in young adults, because if they've made it this far with their disabilities, it's because they're gifted and persevering. University requires greater autonomy, and for some, this requires support to be ready for the start of the new school year. The university environment has long been reserved for the elite, which makes it less open to differences.
Young people living with physical or intellectual disabilities who have been actively supported at school find themselves much more alone at university. This doesn't mean that there's no more help, but that it's less automatic.
In this episode, Sophie discovers how university institutions provide targeted support to adult students with disabilities so that they can navigate and succeed in their new institution.
