Imraam, an 11 year old boy living in India, has been sent to a jewelry factory in Delhi to support his extremely poor family. He faces violence, exploitation and hopes to be free one day to educate himself.

Joella lives in a foster home, where she is pampered. But her learning at school is thwarted by the disease: fetal alcohol syndrome, which translates into hyperactivity that is difficult to control and physical signs, especially on the face.

Originally from Nigeria, Queen lives with her mother in the Netherlands and attends school there. But they are both illegal immigrants, which prevents the mother from working. They have little money and are homeless. Queen decides to send a letter to Queen Maxima of the Netherlands.
