Jenny is devastated to learn of the death of her hospital companion, Étienne Courval. That evening, having had no further news of Charles, she desperately wants to go to the hospital to find some comfort, but her father decides it's too late. Jenny, having her way, sneaks out in the middle of the night and finds Charles, who is also devastated. Their friend's death reminds them of the fragility of life in the face of an unjust illness. But Jenny wants to believe they will recover and that with their friend in their hearts, they will live twice as strong. A new star is now watching over them.
