The wedge is an important invented tool. This simple machine takes the form of a prism with a triangular base and contains two inclined planes. Two young investigators set off in search of wedges, finding everyday objects such as axes, hammers and knives. The wedge shape is also found in certain animals, such as the woodpecker's beak and the shark's teeth. Investigators are then challenged to create their own wedge.
