Les fondements du journalisme (EEB)

During this engaging educational experience for students in grades 7 through 9, Marie-Josée welcomes Marie-Lou St-Onge, a journalist with ONFR. Using a quiz, Marie-Lou introduces the basics of journalism and their importance in a world where fake news is all around us. Next, they review the characteristics of different text types, such as opinion pieces, news articles, and press releases. In a guided and structured manner, Marie-Josée begins writing an opinion piece with the students by first choosing a topic and reviewing the structure of this text type. Finally, Marie-Lou offers writing tips to the students to help their column capture readers’ attention.
