En Chine avec Jiang Yue

Jiang Yue, 12 years old, lives in Shanghai, in the east of China. The most populous country in the world, China is communist and the government controls all areas of life. But today, China has begun an economic revival based on greater independence for businesses. Shanghai, a modern city with a very futuristic architecture, is the symbol of this new economic orientation. However, even if the Chinese have been able to adapt to change, they remain very attached to their customs. In the old quarter of Shanghai, Jiang Yue invites us to participate in a very old Chinese custom: the tea ceremony. Then we go to the opera house where a traditional play is performed, a moment of poetry and music that reminds us of the history of an ancestral China with a glorious imperial past.
