Pain Court

In southwestern Ontario, just across from Detroit, lies Pain Court, with 300 years of history, 300 years of Francophonie still fighting to survive. On the menu: a wise man, Edmond Chauvin, who eats dinner every night at the home of one of his former students; the Lozon's party, the fiddler who loves his family and his family's roots; the women who are part of the parish choir; Angéline Marentette who, at 72, still does substitute teaching in the local schools that are true bastions of the French language and culture. Why this daily determination to preserve them? 'Because a language is a vision of the world! '
