Joseph Edgar

A true night owl, Joseph Edgar often draws his inspiration from the energy, chaos and unpredictability of big cities. This is how he arrived in Toronto, with his musician Alexandre Pépin by his side. The duo walked along the facade of Honest Ed's, a Toronto commercial institution that is closing its doors after more than six decades in business. While passing through The Beguiling bookstore, where fans of Japanese comics and manga converge, the Acadian tells us about his path to music, punctuated by visual arts, illustration, drawing and poetry. He performs three songs, including his biggest hit 'Espionne russe' and reminisces about Acadia aboard a water cab. After a bite to eat at Poutini's on Queen West Street, he made a stop at Goorin Bros. where he couldn't resist getting his hands on a hat, his trademark piece of clothing. He talks about the recent Acadian artistic wave that is sweeping through Quebec before stopping at the Horseshoe Tavern, a mythical place where many Canadian and international artists have taken their first steps on stage.
