Vanier, formerly known as 'Eastview' is a community that has undergone many social and political struggles. Berthe Liard is recognized as an important person in the history of this region. Many fundamental values are at the heart of this community: volunteerism, mutual aid, sense of belonging, cooperation, Francophone roots, etc. Despite the amalgamation of Vanier into the City of Ottawa, residents continue to maintain their Franco-Ontarian heritage and identity.
