On the lake, by boat, with Marcelin Arbour and his brother Victor, we see a string of cottages along the shoreline, where once ploughed land and cultivated fields stretched as far as the eye could see. Mr. Arbour says that the population has changed a lot, but has not increased that much, and that during the summer it doubles with people who have cottages. Jean-Pierre Courchesne feeds logs to the wood stove that keeps him warm while he works in his garage during the winter. He brushes and treats furs that he caught in his traps during the last season, an old tradition that is still practiced in large numbers by the people of the North. We follow him into the woods where he sets traps to reduce the beaver population. With Jean-Pierre Pilon, we walk down the church street: he points out places and buildings that remind him of his village of yesteryear. Like every Tuesday evening, Arthur Perrault goes to the Golden Age Club for the 'jam' evening in which musicians from the whole region participate.
